42ND ANNUAL WORLDFEST IN HOUSTON
In its 42nd annual celebration honoring the best of independent cinema from around the globe, WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, will present premieres of some fifty-five feature films and about one hundred shorts. Founded in 1961 by the award-winning producer Hunter Todd, WorldFest- Houston is one of the oldest film festivals in North America, beginning just after San Francisco and New York. It has the distinct honor of discovering noteworthy directors such as Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, David Lynch, Ridley Scott, Ang Lee, the Coen Brothers, Oliver Stone, and many others. The event provides opportunities for world premieres, award galas, master class seminars, distribution workshops, and meetings with film directors. Special feature: Il papà di Giovanna (Giovanna’s Father, 2008) by Pupi Avati, with Silvio Orlando, who has been invited to attend.
