VI Edition of the Italian Language Week 
The VI Edition of the Italian Language Week will be inaugurated on Monday, October 23 at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Los Angeles with the foundation of the Los Angeles Chapter of the prestigious Accademia Italiana della Cucina and will end on Monday, October 30 with an extraordinary lecture entitled Design is One by two of the most important contemporary Italian designers: Lella and Massimo Vignelli.

September 27 2006 - On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the death of Rodolfo Valentino, the Istituto dedicated an original event to the star of silent films, one of the few Italians to have conquered Hollywood.

Renato Bruson receives the IIC Lifetime Achievement Award 
September 15 2006 - The Istituto Italiano di Cultura gave a Lifetime Achievement Award to the celebrated baritone from Padova Renato Bruson on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of his artistic activity. The great artist was invited to Los Angeles by Placido Domingo, artistic director of the Los Angeles Opera, and the producers of La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi directed by James Conlon, in which Bruson plays majestically the role of the devout father, Giorgio Germont.  The prize, given by the director of the IIC, Francesca Valente, was created for the occasion by Tuscan artist Mauro Staccioli. Entitled Tondo, it is a reproduction, in reduced size, of the large piece of artwork commissioned and on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego.

The Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles & the Resorting Ancient Stabiae (RAS) Foundation USA Announce Partnership

A memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed on March 20th 2006 by the Restoring Ancient Stabiae Foundation (RAS) USA and the Italian Cultural Institute (Istituto Italiano di Cultura) of Los Angeles, launches a cultural partnership between the two entities for the advancement of Italian culture and the promotion of cultural events and activities in the United States in conjunction with the Stabiae international restoration project and the In Stabiano: Exploring the Ancient Seaside Villas of the Roman Elite exhibition currently on its 2004-2005 US Tour.
